Getting married at a château is one of those decisions that sets the tone for the whole day. The setting isn’t just a backdrop for photos: it’s the grounds, the stonework and the light that transform the atmosphere of a ceremony. At the Château de la Huberdière, in Touraine, we host weddings for between 30 and 150 guests, in an estate reserved exclusively for you.

Here’s how we envisage organising a wedding at the château, and what this actually means for the bride and groom.

Why get married in a castle?

A castle for a wedding is not just a beautiful venue. It is a venue that can be hired exclusively, enjoyed over two days, where the celebrations can go on without neighbours or a set timetable.

At La Huberdière, you have the château and its enclosed grounds all to yourselves. A non-religious ceremony under the trees, a reception on the terrace, dinner in the drawing rooms or in a marquee in the grounds: the venue adapts to your plans, not the other way round.

Full details of the private hire options, capacity and services can be found on the weddings page.

A wedding at a château 2 hours 20 from Paris

The Touraine region offers a rare advantage for a wedding: it is beautiful and close by. Nazelles-Négron, where the château is situated, is 2 hours 20 from Paris and just over an hour by train to Tours or Saint-Pierre-des-Corps.

This is an important consideration when you’re hosting guests from the Île-de-France region or further afield. People come to get married in the Loire Valley without making it a huge journey for their loved ones.

How many guests? What’s the budget?

The first question newlyweds ask is almost always about capacity. The château can seat up to 150 people for the meal, and the layout can be adapted for more intimate gatherings, starting from around thirty guests.

The cost of a castle wedding depends on the season, the number of guests and the services provided. Rather than offering a fixed price, we put together a bespoke proposal once we have a clear understanding of your plans. This is the only honest way to put a price on a day that is uniquely yours.

Accommodating loved ones on site

One of the real luxuries of a castle wedding is being able to accommodate close family on site. The estate’s guest rooms mean that the bride and groom and their loved ones can remain at the heart of the celebrations, without having to travel at night.

For larger groups, the same concept of a private area is also ideal for family gatherings and large dinner parties. The venue is designed to bring people together.
