Activities & the surrounding area

At the château and all around it, the days fill up without effort. The fourteen-hectare estate is lived both outdoors and in, and Touraine puts the finest châteaux of the Loire, the vineyards and the riverbanks within an easy drive. Here is what you need to shape your stay, ten minutes from Amboise and 2 hrs 20 from Paris.

On site, at the château

You can spend a whole day at the château without ever growing bored or getting back in the car. The walled grounds invite you to walk: a 16 x 3 m lap pool heated from April to October, its pool house, paths through the woods and vineyards, a permaculture vegetable garden and flower beds where you can pick the herbs for dinner.

  • Heated pool from April to October and pool house
  • Walks through the estate's woods and vineyards
  • Permaculture vegetable garden and flower gardens
  • Pétanque, table tennis and golf nearby
  • Eclectic library and board games

Indoors, music holds a special place: a concert grand piano, an electric piano, guitars, bass and drums await those who play, or those who want to take it up again. Two experiences can be booked ahead and often give a rhythm to a stay: an Italian cookery class with Lodovica, drawing on her roots and on market produce, and a wellbeing massage without leaving the estate. Each day, our team stays on hand for the details of your holiday or your event. Ask for our road book, full of sites, experiences and good addresses. Pets welcome on request.

Around the château

Touraine lends itself to every mood, from heritage to the open air, and reveals itself at the pace of the Loire. We work with trusted local partners, whom we book for you.

  • Bike hire with Loire Bikes, on the Loire à Vélo cycle route
  • Wine tasting at the Tasting Room and at Mondomaine
  • Hot-air balloon flight departing from the château with Art Montgolfière
  • Canoeing on the Cher with Canoë Aventure
  • Traditional sailing boat on the Loire with Millière Raboton

The vineyards of Vouvray and Montlouis-sur-Loire begin a few minutes away: troglodyte cellars, the autumn harvest, tastings with the winemakers. The Amboise market, the cave-dwelling villages and the banks of the Loire round out days that need not be full to feel complete.

The Loire châteaux within reach

Amboise and the Clos Lucé, Leonardo da Vinci's last home, are ten minutes away. On the far side of the river, la Huberdière is an ideal base to explore without ever driving for long. Chenonceau, the château set over the Cher, is a twenty-minute drive. Chaumont-sur-Loire and its garden festival, Cheverny, Blois, Villandry and its gardens, then Chambord, can all be visited in a day.

To plan a route, we help you choose according to the season and the time you have. Our guide to visiting the Loire châteaux offers a first itinerary, and the château's road book fills in the rest.
